TEXAS POLITICS PROJECT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

Project: Update and edit online textbook on Texas government and politics

Client: The Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas

Description:

The ambitious team at the Texas Politics Project needed help updating and refining chapters on Political Culture; Voting, Campaigns, and Elections; The Justice System; Political Parties; Interest Groups; The Constitution; The Legislative Branch; and The Executive Branch.

My work:

·      Research

·      Copyediting

·      Editorial Advice

Approach:

I worked closely with Josh Blank, the project’s Manager of Polling and Research, tackling a new chapter together every two weeks. After reading the current chapter, I would research questions that arose during reading, then outline a proposal for a new chapter, which Josh and I would revise and agree on before I was turned loose to tweak old text and add new where necessary. A fast-paced, constantly-changing project where I was constantly on my toes and humbled to be supporting the Texas politics experts.
